Password Requirements When Creating a Skyp Account

What password rules Skyp enforces at signup — minimum length, character requirements, and the visual strength indicator.

Written by Alexander Shartsis

When you create a Skyp account with an email and password, your password must meet a few requirements. These rules are enforced on the registration page as you type, and again on the server when you submit — so you'll get clear feedback before any account is created.

Password requirements

Your password must:

  • Be at least 12 characters long

  • Be no more than 128 characters long

  • Contain at least one uppercase letter (A–Z)

  • Contain at least one lowercase letter (a–z)

  • Contain at least one number (0–9)

As you type, a strength indicator below the password field shows which requirements have been met. The form won't let you submit until all requirements are satisfied.

Common issues

  • "Password must be at least 12 characters" — Your password is too short. Add more characters until the indicator shows this requirement is met.

  • "Password must contain an uppercase letter" — Add at least one capital letter anywhere in the password.

  • "Password must contain a lowercase letter" — Add at least one lowercase letter anywhere in the password.

  • "Password must contain a number" — Add at least one digit (0–9) anywhere in the password.

Signing up with Google

If you sign up using Sign up with Google, no password is required — authentication is handled entirely by your Google account. Password requirements only apply to email-and-password registrations.

Need to change your password after signing up? Go to Settings and open the Security tab.
