Why contacts matter in Skyp

Contacts are the foundation of every Skyp campaign. The better organized and enriched your contacts are, the easier it is to:

  • Launch targeted outbound campaigns

  • Keep track of who's been emailed

  • React quickly when new prospects show up on your radar

The Contacts area in Skyp is designed to make all of that easy to manage.

Accessing your contacts

  1. Log into Skyp.

  2. Navigate to the Contacts section.

This is your central place to:

  • View all contacts in your account

  • Add new ones manually

  • Import contacts in bulk

  • Filter and sort as your list grows

  • Enrich your database automatically via integrations

Adding contacts manually

For one-off additions or small lists, you can add a contact by hand.

In the Contacts section:

  1. Click to Add contact.

  2. Fill in the contact's details:

    • Name

    • Email

    • Any other available fields

  3. Optionally add additional context, such as:

    • How you found them

    • Which account they belong to

    • Notes on their role, interest, or segment

This context can later be used to tailor campaigns and prompts for more relevant outreach.

Importing contacts from a CSV

For larger lists, use the CSV upload flow.

You can import contacts:

  • When creating a campaign (common flow), or

  • Directly from the Contacts section

From Contacts:

  1. Look for the option to upload/import contacts.

  2. Choose your CSV file from your computer (this opens a standard file dialog).

  3. Map the CSV columns to Skyp's fields (e.g. name, email, company, title, etc.).

  4. Complete the import.

This is ideal when:

  • You've pulled a list from tools like Apollo, Clay, or your CRM

  • You've exported attendees from an event or webinar

  • You're consolidating existing lists into Skyp

Filtering and viewing your contacts

As your database grows, filtering becomes essential.

In the Contacts view, you can:

  • View Opens and Clicks counts per contact β€” so you can see at a glance which prospects are engaging with your emails

  • Apply filters to narrow down by contact attributes

  • Sort contacts by recent additions, account, or domain

Handling duplicate contacts

When you upload a CSV with contacts that already exist in Skyp, the upload dialog shows a count of how many were duplicates.

You can also review and merge duplicates at any time:

  1. Go to the Contacts section.

  2. Click the Duplicates tab (it appears when duplicates are detected).

  3. Review the duplicate groups and choose which record to keep, or merge them together.

Invalid email addresses

Skyp validates email addresses and flags any that appear invalid. You'll see a red Invalid badge next to the email address in the contacts list and in campaign recipients.

Contacts with invalid email addresses will be skipped when a campaign tries to send to them β€” their sequence will show a Skipped status. This prevents bounces from affecting your deliverability.

Unsubscribing a contact

You can manually unsubscribe any contact from receiving further emails. This is useful when a contact asks to be removed from your outreach.

To unsubscribe a contact:

  1. Find the contact in the Contacts section.

  2. Open their record.

  3. Select Unsubscribe from their action menu.

Unsubscribed contacts are shown with an Unsubscribed badge and will no longer receive emails from any campaign.

For bulk suppression, use the Do Not Contact list instead β€” it supports entire domains as well as individual addresses.

Automatically adding contacts with Syft Data

One of the most powerful ways to keep your contacts fresh is to connect Syft Data.

When integrated, Syft Data can:

  • Detect website visitors and people who interact with you on LinkedIn

  • Identify their email address (when possible)

  • Automatically add them as contacts in Skyp

What this means in practice:

  • You don't have to add these visitors manually

  • New, high-intent contacts show up directly in your Skyp contacts

  • You can quickly add them to a campaign and respond to interest while it's still fresh
