Skyp requires a business email address to sign up

Why Skyp only accepts business email addresses, which domains are blocked, and what to do if you see the "Business email required" error.

Written by Alexander Shartsis

Skyp is a business outreach tool and requires a work or company email address to create an account. Personal email addresses — such as Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, and similar — are not accepted during signup.

Why Skyp requires a business email

Skyp sends emails on behalf of your business, so it needs to verify that you're signing up as a representative of a company. A work email address helps confirm this and protects the quality of outreach sent through the platform.

Email addresses that are not accepted

The following personal email providers are blocked at signup:

  • gmail.com / googlemail.com

  • yahoo.com, yahoo.co.uk, ymail.com

  • hotmail.com, outlook.com

  • icloud.com

  • aol.com

  • protonmail.com, proton.me

  • mail.com

  • zoho.com

  • yandex.com

  • gmx.com

This list covers the most common personal email providers. If your domain is not listed here but is still rejected, it is likely flagged as a consumer email provider.

What you'll see if you use a personal email

If you try to register with a personal email address, Skyp will show an error:

  • Password signup: "Please use your work email address. Personal email addresses (like Gmail or Yahoo) are not allowed."

  • Sign in with Google: "That Google account uses a personal email address. Please sign up with your work Google account, or register with your work email below."

How to sign up with a business email

  1. Enter your work email address — for example, [email protected].

  2. Complete the rest of the signup form and click Create account.

If your company uses Google Workspace, you can also click Sign in with Google and choose your work Google account (the one tied to your company domain).

Already have an account with a personal email?

If you previously signed up with a personal email before this requirement was introduced, your existing account is not affected — you can still log in as normal. This restriction only applies to new signups.

If you need help switching to a business email for your existing account, please reach out to the Skyp support team via the chat button in the app.
