Skyp uses AI to generate a personalized email sequence for every contact in your campaign. Occasionally that generation can fail permanently for a specific contact — for example, if the AI declines to write the emails, if the provider blocks the content, or if some required campaign data is missing. When that happens, Skyp now surfaces the failure directly on the contact so you can see exactly why no messages will be sent, instead of leaving the contact silently stuck at "Sent 0/N".
Where you'll see it
Open any campaign from Campaigns — the campaign modal opens on top of the list. In the contacts table inside the modal you'll see a small warning badge next to any contact whose message generation failed. Hover the badge to see the full explanation and, where available, the underlying error message returned by the AI provider.
The same badge appears on both the active campaign modal (for campaigns still running) and the completed campaign modal (for finished campaigns).
What each badge means
Not generated — "The AI declined to write emails for this contact"
Usually the contact does not match your campaign's targeting (for example, the contact's role or industry is a poor fit for the campaign goal), or your campaign inputs need adjustment. No messages will be sent to this contact. Not generated — "The AI provider blocked this content for policy reasons"
The AI provider's safety filters refused to produce the emails. This is rare and usually indicates that something in the campaign inputs triggered a policy check. No messages will be sent to this contact.Generation failed — "Campaign, company, or contact data needed for generation is missing"
Skyp couldn't find the campaign, company, or contact record it needed to generate the sequence. No messages will be sent to this contact.Generation failed — generic
Message generation failed for a reason not covered above. The tooltip includes the raw error from the provider so you can decide what to do next.
What to do about it
Hover the badge inside the campaign modal to read the description and the underlying error.
If a large number of contacts show Not generated, review your campaign name, follow-up guidance, and CTAs in the campaign wizard — the AI may be flagging the campaign as a poor fit for your audience. See Campaigns to open the campaign and iterate.
If a single contact shows a failure, it usually means the contact profile itself is not a good fit for that campaign. You can remove that contact from the campaign, or add them to a different campaign that better matches their profile from Contacts.
If you see Generation failed with an underlying provider error, you may need to retry the campaign or contact support with the error text shown in the tooltip.
Errors during the wizard
If sequence generation fails while you're still in the campaign wizard (for example, on the Review step), the wizard now shows the actual error message returned by the AI provider rather than a generic "Something went wrong". Read the message, adjust your campaign inputs if needed, and try again.
