How Skyp Personalizes LinkedIn Messages per Lead

How Skyp uses AI to generate a unique outreach strategy and personalized follow-up message for each of your LinkedIn connections, based on their profile and your campaign goal.

Written by Alexander Shartsis

When you run a LinkedIn campaign in Skyp, the follow-up message isn't a single template sent to every connection — Skyp uses AI to generate a unique message for each individual lead, based on their LinkedIn profile and your campaign's goal.

How per-lead personalization works

For every lead who accepts your connection request, Skyp generates a personalized follow-up message that takes into account:

  • The lead's LinkedIn profile — their name, job title (headline), and company

  • Your campaign goal — derived from the campaign name and any follow-up message guidance you provided

  • Your outreach strategy — the timing and focus defined for each step in the sequence

This means two leads in the same campaign will receive different messages, each tailored to that person rather than a generic template.

The follow-up message field

When creating a LinkedIn campaign, the Follow-up message field acts as a creative brief or direction for the AI — not the literal message that gets sent to every lead. Use it to specify:

  • The angle or value proposition you want to lead with

  • A specific question or call-to-action you'd like included

  • Any tone or constraint guidance (e.g., keep it short and casual, mention a specific use case)

If left blank, Skyp generates messages using the campaign name and each lead's profile as context.

Campaign strategy

Skyp automatically generates an AI outreach strategy for each LinkedIn campaign — a plan that determines the number of steps, the spacing between them, and the purpose of each message. The default strategy is a 2-step sequence:

  1. Connection request — A brief, personalized connection invite note (within the 300-character LinkedIn limit)

  2. Follow-up message — A personalized direct message sent after the connection is accepted, with a minimum gap of 2 sending days for a natural cadence

The strategy is generated automatically when your campaign is activated, using the campaign's sending schedule and goal as inputs. You don't need to configure the strategy manually — Skyp handles it. But you can override it.

When are messages generated?

Messages are generated just in time — a personalized follow-up is created for each lead shortly before it is due to be sent, once their connection has been accepted and any follow-up delay has elapsed. This keeps message content fresh, as a prospect might not accept the connection request for a while.

Advanced: customizing via MCP tools

If you use Skyp's AI assistant integration (MCP), you can access additional controls for LinkedIn campaigns:

  • View or update the campaign strategy — adjust the timing and focus of each step in the sequence

  • Insert a custom message for a specific lead — override the AI-generated message with your own content for a particular lead

  • Adjust the stop-sending-after-reply setting — control whether Skyp stops the sequence once a lead replies

See Using the Agents & API Dashboard for how to connect an AI assistant to Skyp via MCP.
